Podcast: Anti-Fragility and Cold Water with Jason Stauffer

Episode 9 features Jason Stauffer, President of Morozko Forge. After seven years in the Army, Jason began training anti-fragility through exposure. After reading “What Doesn’t Kill Us” by Scott Karney and attending a Wim Hof cold coaching session, Jason, along with a few like-minded friends began experimenting with cold water tubs in their backyard in Phoenix, AZ. Several ripped-apart refrigerator modules later, Morozko Forge was founded to help people gain access to cold water immersion therapy without going to a high-end wellness center.

The science and research around cold water therapy is young, but promising. Since 1902, the proliferation of climate-controlled rooms has softened our resilience to hot and cold temperatures. As Jason explains, cardiovascular processes are stressed and “exercised” with exposure to hot or cold temperatures. Beyond the benefits of feeling comfortable in cold weather and a strengthened immune system, more evidence is coming out in support of cold water immersion’s health benefits.

This episode is different than the previous 8 because it was done over the phone. Face to face conversations are always best, but nonetheless Jason drops a ton of incredible knowledge and shares a story worth hearing. It will certainly be exciting to watch Morozko grow in 2020.
